Creations For Everyone

Since we started Young Foundations in 2007, we’ve received non-stop request from pastors, youth leaders, Sunday School teachers, homeschool moms and parents asking for more ideas for their children: pastors and youth leaders requesting activities and ideas for their youth groups, Sunday School teachers asking for lessons and ideas for their classes, moms asking for teaching programs for their homeschool classes, all simply wanting more to keep their children interested in the Word and away from the world. Well now we have something started in that direction.

As many of you know, last Spring we launched a new program within Young Foundations called “Creations.” Creations is a place where the YF youth can come to not only learn new trades or skills, but also be taught valuable life lessons from the Word of God.

Most homeschoolers don’t have the opportunity to meet in a classroom setting with other youth to take trade classes such as art, home-ec, sewing & woodshop that are important to learn when you’re young. This can be especially helpful for young believers. Most young sisters will become mothers and housewives someday, where learning to sew, being crafty, and certainly learning more about the Lord will become very valuable. The young brothers will someday have to start working to supply a living for themselves and their future families. Many take up trades of carpentry (woodworking), where they can work for themselves instead of with an outside company.

With the help of the Lord, at Creations we have been able to supply some of these things for our local youth in Jeffersonville, and it has now been opened to anyone willing to come and participate with us. The main purpose wasn’t just for the local youth, but for all believers. We want to extend what has proven to be a great success in teaching our young believers helpful tools of life, and more importantly, more about our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have now added a new link on the Young Foundations home page where we will be posting all of the Creations classes that we perform at the Creations building. Each class will contain a detailed worksheet (printable PDF) explaining the class title, age group, timeframe, needed material, moral lesson, and a tutorial of exactly how we taught each class, with pictures. The most recent classes will always appear at the top of the list, and each type of class (woodshop, sewing, craft) will be a different color for easier navigation.

The classes we offer are broken down in the following age groups, but your classes may vary depending on how many youth you have in your family, church, or area.

  • 4-6 - boys and girls
  • 7-9 - boys and girls
  • 10-12 - girls sewing/craft
  • 13-15 - girls sewing/craft (sometimes we combine the 10–15 classes into one)
  • 16-28 - girls sewing/craft (sometimes we combine the 13–15 or 10–28 classes into one)
  • 10-11 - boys woodshop
  • 12-15 - boys woodshop
  • 16-28 - boys woodshop (sometimes we combine the 12–28 classes into one)

Starting from the the 4–6 year old classes, all the way up to the 16–28 year old classes, we’ve seen very positive results from our local youth. We recently started incorporating the YF Jubilee tape quizzes in our Creations classes, and the number of local youth taking the quizzes has more than doubled. The wonderful thing is, the children are really learning and taking home what they’ve learned.

It’s our desire to help the Bride of Christ in any way we can. We pray this new tool will be helpful to your youth groups, Sunday School classes, homeschool classes, or simply for your individual families.

Please let us know your feedback on Creations, by sending them to creations@youngfoundations.org, and be sure to send us any new class ideas you might have.

Also remember to send us stories and pictures from your own YF Creations classes to yf@youngfoundations.org.

God bless you,
