THIS PAST WINTER, BROTHER JOSEPH WAS VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE A NEW PROJECT FOR THE LOCAL YOUNG FOUNDATIONS YOUTH. IT’S CALLED “CREATIONS” AND HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:
First, we transformed a warehouse into a woodshop, and we made the offices into classrooms. Then we recruited a small army of volunteers to help teach things from sewing to woodworking, made a schedule of classes to be taught, and we got to work.
It has been a great success! The shop has been buzzing with the sound of saws, while the classrooms continue to produce beautiful stitch work, fun crafts, and lots of smiles. The youth are making projects that will last a season or two, but building friendships and learning valuable lessons, both naturally and spiritually, that will last a lifetime.
At Creations, it always starts with the Word! Every class starts with a prayer, Scripture reading, and a quote from Brother Branham. Here is a lesson that one of the woodshop teachers taught:
Try to cut a string exactly 12 inches long without using something to measure with. Now use your tape measure and see who cut their string the closest. The tape measure is the absolute. Without it, you’re never going to measure exactly 12 inches. To us, the Word is our Absolute. Without It, we really wouldn’t have any idea what was right and wrong.
We are very grateful to have a lot of believers in the Jeffersonville area who help make this possible, and we hope that this gives you an idea of something you can do with the believers in your area. That is the real purpose of Creations. We are constantly receiving request from parents, churches, Sunday Schools, asking for ways they can interact with their youth to keep their focus on the Word and away from the world.
Maybe you can invite your Sunday School class to meet at a park sometime to paint or do a craft, or even build a simple birdhouse. Or maybe one of the elder brothers or sisters with the knowledge to build or sew can invite the youth over to learn these trades for themselves.
We will be posting an article with a slideshow and printable PDF for each Creations class we have, so that you have something to base your classes off of. If you decide to follow our classes, or create your own classes, make sure to let us know what you did! Ask your parents or church to help you set something up, and make sure to take lots of pictures and send them to us!
"...a man in himself is a creator, miniature creator. Now, he cannot actually create, because God does that. But he can take the things that God has made and the--the wood that God growed and build a building out of it. He can take that--the steel that God created and do something else with it. He can take the electricity that God sends in the air and make it light up a building. That's a man."
