Overcome means to recognize the devil in every one of his tricks. The same time that you recognize his lying vanities, and know that he's a devil and against you, then to overcome you must also recognize that the God in you is greater and mightier than he is. That's the One that's in you Who has already overcome him. By His grace, we are more than a match for him.
Our brother below recognized the enemy, and the One in him that could overcome it.
The day after Thanksgiving, I was hanging out with a group of relatives while my mom and aunts were out shopping. I remember that I felt kind of tired throughout most of the day, but I thought it was just because I had stayed up real late the night before. As the day progressed I grew more tired and achy, despite the fact that I had taken some large naps throughout the day. At that time my younger sister was suffering from an ear infection, so I knew that Satan was beginning to strike with the annual chilly-weather sicknesses.
By the time that I got home that night, I was beginning to really feel bad. I prayed diligently about this because I had promised an older lady that I would help her out with some strenous work the next day, and I knew that if I couldn't make it she would do the work herself. I felt that if it was God's will I would be well enough to help her, otherwise I just wasn't meant to go.
My mom and aunt saw how sick I felt, and my aunt came up with a brilliant idea. One of her and my uncle's wedding gifts was a prayer cloth that had been prayed over by Brother Branham, and she proposed that my uncle lay it on me and pray for me. When my uncle finished praying for me, I straightened up from my bowed position and noticed that something felt different. My previously aching back now felt absolutely well! My tired and weak legs felt strong again! My raw throat now was fine! I went to bed that night praising the Lord for a good long while, even after I went to bed.
That night contained a lot of tossing and turning, but I knew that no matter what Satan tried to tell me, I was healed. The next morning, I arose from bed and stepped into the kitchen to talk with my mom. While I was in the middle of talking to her, however, I began to feel really dizzy and disoriented. I excused myself and lurched into my room and onto my bed. My stomach felt like it was doing somersaults and I felt like I was going to throw up. I was in a dripping cold sweat. Through all this, though, I remembered the story Brother Branham mentions about his sick stomach and when he was fighting to keep his food down. And how that when we get sick real bad after we claimed healing, it means that we have received our healing. But the story that stuck in my mind, was the one about Jonah in the whale's belly. Brother Branham said that everywhere Jonah looked there was whale's belly, but that didn't stagger him. Jonah said that they were lying vanities. As I struggled to get through the feelings of dizziness and nausea, I began to speak out loud. I said that I was healed no matter what I felt, and that these sick feelings were lying vanities! and that by His stripes I was healed. The pain continued, but so did I. I kept praising the Lord, thanking Him for my healing and declaring my symptons lying vanities! After several minutes, I began to feel better, so I found my quiet place for the Saturday morning quiet time.
When it was time for me to leave for the lady's house, I gingerly began to move around and, praise the Lord, I felt better than I had in ages! I promised the Lord during that long night that I would share this testimony with as many as I could, and what better way to start than giving it here at Young Foundations?
God bless you,
Your Brother in Jesus Christ
Symptoms, they're lying vanities. Don't receive them. Don't have nothing to do with them.
If you look to them, you're looking away from God. We look at the unseen, not at what we see. No one could look at what they see and be a Christian. You've got to believe the things that's unseen, for it's by faith are you healed, not by sight or by feeling.
