Malawi Witnessing Youth Day Report

The youth of Malawi gathered earlier this year for a monumental day in Blantyre, Malawi's center of finance and commerce, and its second largest city. On this special day they were to scour the city to spread the Gospel to their fellow countrymen. The youth had an unforgettable experience and a victorious day to say the least. Below is their report.

Saturday was destined as a day the youth around Blantyre would be involved in passing out of tracts around our central business district. Clad in either Quiet Time or YF T-shirts, the youths started to converge at the clock tower in the heart of Blantyre City before 9 A.M. By 9:30, the crowd had swollen to 200 and more continued to arrive from all directions.

After a prayer was offered, Brother Saidi made some few remarks to the youth. He reminded them the desire of Brother Joseph for the youth, and the importance of the missionary work. He read to them the following quotation:

We know that when you're doing missionary work, you're doing exactly what the Lord said. Is that right? For He said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature," and that's the general orders of Jesus Christ, and we know then that that's right. We can't go wrong when we're tak—doing missionary work. WMB 53-0907A

These few remarks from the prophet kindled fire in the hearts of the youth, and they were ready to go.

At exactly 10:17 AM, an assembly of 250 young men and women were divided into five groups. Each headed towards different directions: Genera Main Bus Terminal, the Mibawa Minibus junction, Blantyre produce market, Mount Soche Hotel and Victoria Avenue’s “Wall Street”. In all these places, the youths evangelized by distributing tracts and answering questions people had about the Message of the hour. Each group was under supervision of a chaperone.

Thirty minutes later, Brother Saidi’s phone turned into a buzz of activity as group leaders were busy asking for more tracts as their stocks run out. While driving around to stock up, Bother Saidi could not avoid noticing what was intended to be a small activity, had now turned the city into a hub of activity. By 11:40 AM, thousands of people had been reached using the tracts.

It was very difficult to take pictures, as there was a lot of resistance from the people.

The five groups finally converged at the Immigration Office side grounds where the music equipment had already been mounted. Enticed by the luring music, the lads could not help but dance to the rhythm of the End-Time Message kind of music. The atmosphere bore witness to the command Jesus once made “let the little ones come to me”.

After a player was offered, the youth had lunch. Thereafter, Brother Saidi demonstrated to them the proceedings of A Tape Ministry. A portion of the tape ‘Serpent’s Seed” was played. Immediately after the tape was stopped, four onlookers offered themselves to be baptized.

The pastors who are beneficiaries of the four converts are very happy with the outcome and encouraged us to extend the Tape Ministry to other towns and townships. They also applauded the involvement of the youth in the Tape Ministry as this is a vindication of Brother Joseph’s vision for the youth worldwide.

The exercise provided an opportunity for us to test the viability of a Tape Ministry in our towns. We are more than excited with the success of the trial and we are ever ready to take this to the other towns.

Because of lower internet penetration levels of our town, the youth made a suggestion that it would be better that other than a website, telephone numbers should also be included on the tracts.

I trust this report will be a blessing to you, and thank you very much for your prayers.
