Hebrews In Trinidad

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been posting Hebrews feedback from different countries around the world, and it keeps coming. Below you will find a wonderful report of how the Hebrews series has impacted a group of believers in Trinidad.

The Hebrews Series Study has truly made the Book of Hebrews a brand new book, with golden nuggets in there that are now being dusted off and polished to perfection. One of the most outstanding things has been how all the sermons on the Hebrews Series fitted flawlessly into the present 1964 Jubilee calendar, one every week from the ending of August till the beginning of December. It must have been that the Lord was mindful of us, knowing that the prophet would be away from the pulpit during these months, 50 years ago, yet He prepared some stored up food that He knew we would enjoy feasting on in 2014. To some of the believers here, it may have been the first time, to others maybe a deeper look, but to all, the Hebrews study has proven to be truly outstanding.

Since the beginning of the Jubilee calendar, the believers here have been gathering to listen to these inspired sermons together at church. Regular worship times here are on Wednesday night, Friday night and Sunday morning, but we would have our services to match the Jubilee sermons, so if Bro Branham preached a five sermon series, we would have services for five days, whatever days that he preached it. We are still living on these blessings, and the Hebrews series has been no different. Any sermon that we listen to at church, whether Jubilee or otherwise, we usually print out the YF quizzes (once there is one attached to it), and make them available to the believers while listening to the message. We have really grown to love the quizzes, so much so, that even if it isn’t a present YF quiz, we would print out the past quizzes for any message that we listen to. With the inclusion of adults also taking the quizzes for Hebrews, this has added to the excitement. When in the past we would print between 40–50 quiz papers, now we print much more, and presently, there are around 80 regular partakers on the Quiz results, which has been a real encouragement to us all.

We would usually print and post the blog or article associated with each sermon, for the benefit of those that do not have Internet access. Even though each person would submit their scores online, we have a box provided to collect the actual quiz papers. Our youth have been privileged to be a part of the YF Rewards program, but just as a form of encouragement to the adults, we put together a little ‘in house’ rewards program, where we would give out small tokens every month (since the beginning of this year) to those who completed quizzes. These would usually be in the form of laminated bookmarks or certificates.

During this present Hebrews series, we would usually listen to them either on Wednesday or Sunday. At church, there are many sounds that we are acquainted to hearing, the Voice of God, certainly, the sound of worship, prayer being offered, even the sound of a baby crying, however, there is a new sound that we now hear, and never would have heard it, had we not been taking these quizzes together. It’s the sound of 80 quiz pages being turned simultaneously to the questions on the other side. When we first heard it, it was awesome, just to know that we were all on the ‘same page’, so to speak.

In a recent service, many of the believers came up to give testimony of what the Hebrews series has meant to them, some sharing quotes that stood out to them, others sharing experiences of witnessing to co-workers on Hebrews sermons, and others just glad to be strengthened by this Word revival, clearing up questions in many minds. One brother shared a pretty unique encounter with us, which we trust will be a blessing.

On Thursday 13th November, I was driving to work some 50km away, approximately one hour and ten minute drive. The rain was falling very lightly as I was approaching the half way mark on the trip. I had borrowed a van which had no CD player, so I had my cell phone on, playing Hebrews chapter 7 #1.

I don’t normally pick up strangers because of the lawless age we live in, but that morning this middle age guy had his hand out, stopping any vehicle that would pass before him. Every vehicle passed him, even me, but I had this great urge to pick him up. By the time I really decided to stop, I had to reverse a short distance to get to him. When he entered the van, I greeted him, asking what direction he was going, only to realize that his destination was near to my workplace. Those were pretty much the last words spoken between us, and as we went along, the message was playing.

During the trip I glanced at him to see if he was listening, although he seemed quiet, but I could not tell if he was paying attention or not. On nearing my destination, I asked him if he had ever heard the voice that was playing, he replied that he was trying to determine if he ever did, but really didn’t know. I explained briefly to him of God sending a prophet for our day, Bro Branham, vindicated by signs and miracles as in the Bible days. I asked him if he understands what he just heard on tape, he replied that it sounded like Hebrews. This astounded me, to hear this man actually recognize that it was in fact Hebrews being preached.

It just so happened, that this fellow became a Methodist minister not too long ago and that he was now studying Hebrews to preach on this Sunday. He said there were very few preachers that would preach on Hebrews. We fellowshipped a while and I invited him to our services, to which he agreed that he would in the future, and he said he will be calling for some study materials from Bro Branham. That just made my day!

We give thanks to the Lord for Brother Joseph and all the team at VGR and YF, for their love and tireless efforts to keep this unadulterated Word of God before His waiting Bride. We are so glad that we can say that we are ‘One of Them.’

God Bless you all, Keep pressing the battle!
