My Life Story

Imagine trying to get some sleep during a winter storm while the snow is sweeping through the cracks in the roof of your mud-chinked log house. You have to cover up with a piece of canvas just to keep dry and warm.
click to enlarge To add to the discomfort, the corn shucks are sticking out of your crunchy pillow, and the straw from your straw-tick mattress is pricking you in the back. That doesn’t sound much like the modern living conditions we have today. Most of us would cringe at the thought of a night under those conditions. But it wasn’t anything abnormal for Brother Branham to experience these things during his childhood.

Over the next two weeks we are going to be playing the version of Brother Branham’s “Life Story” from the Los Angeles, CA series. It was preached on the Sunday afternoon of April 19, 1959, on the last day of a 17-day revival held at the Angelus Temple. Brother Branham always had a warm place in his heart for the Angelus Temple, because they stood for the full Gospel of Jesus Christ. Although he never had the chance to meet Sister Aimee Semple McPherson, the founder of the Angelus Temple and the Foursquare movement, Brother Branham respected what she stood for and admired her as a servant of God. He said the Temple stands as a memorial of her love to Jesus Christ. He visited her grave the first time he went to Los Angeles and gave thanks to God for her gallant life while she was here on earth. After meeting everyone at the Temple, Brother Branham became familiar with the fine spirit of the people there and felt more like one of them. Brother Glover makes it a point to tell Brother Branham that they are on the air (broadcasting the service) all over southern California, out into the islands, and on the ships. Thousands were listening in.

It is a touching experience every time we hear Brother Branham tell his life story. It truly makes us realize and appreciate what God did through such a humble, God-fearing man. God spared Brother Branham’s life numerous times over the years. As Brother Branham put it himself, “It was Him protecting His gift, not me.” How thankful we are that God protected this life saving Message. Without it we would be no better off than the rest of the world.
