Trinidad Creations - Does Jesus Have A Boat

The Trinidad youth group stays close behind us with the different Creations classes we post. Below is their most recent creation they gathered to create, called "Does Jesus Have A Boat." They took this one a step further by sharing the class with their neighboring country youth of Guyana. What a blessing and encouragement they've been to these isolated youth and believers!

The Lord Bless you all richly,

How special it was to take part in this Creations project, ‘Does Jesus Have A Boat?’, where we were reminded about the 12 special men that were chosen by God, entrusted with the spreading of the Gospel and who remain as true examples of discipleship, that even today their names and characters could be spoken of by children around the world.

After looking at the PDF, we thought that it would be interesting if we made it a family project, where kids could work on the same project for their home.

Our first session was with the 7–16 age group. We gathered to have Global Quiet Time, had some delicious homemade pizzas and some vibrant singing, after which we went into the lesson. It was no surprise that everybody knew who asked that question ‘Does Jesus Have A Boat?’. The children were reminded of what to do and Who to call when they are in trouble. It was really a lovely tutorial, teaching us and the children many things.

They were eager to get into the construction part of the project, and very soon scissors were working everywhere. The children were seated on tables with their brothers and sisters, and they first had to decide among themselves who would be doing what part of the project. It was nice to see the great teamwork, as they began their assembly.

Most of the boys started on putting the boats together, maybe because they wanted to test them out in some nearby river afterwards: ), while the girls mostly did the intricate cutting out of the disciples. We did a little improvising, as we used the same chipboard material to make stands for each disciple. Needless to say, we had to return on the following Tuesday afternoon to get our boats in floating condition.

That Saturday, class was also special because we were joined by two believing families in Guyana, who when they heard of us wanting to do the project, were keen on doing it at the same time with us. We were able, within 5 days, to source, assemble, print and Fedex 2 project packages, that by God’s grace reached just in time for our simultaneous class. That morning we were able to video call them, as we started our classes at the same time, and they were just as excited as us, as we went along.

The 3–6 age group, accompanied by their parents, came in on the following Thursday evening to begin their 2 part class, which was completed the next Tuesday, with even some spare time to jump around in their bouncy castle. With the help of the disciples song, the kids were able to learn their names, and some even could tell who they were without looking at their name tags.

We ended up having 25 family projects here locally, and two in Guyana, and we must say a BIG Thank you for such an accurate and complete tutorial, worksheets and all.

Keep up the good work, and keep pressing the battle.
