Philippines YF Gym Day

YF gatherings in the Philippines have taken a strong hold, and the number of youth who attend continues to grow as they embrace the opportunities to fellowship and hear God's Word in unity. Below is Brother Jeremiah's (VGR Philippines Office Manager) report of the most recent gym day they enjoyed together a few months ago.

Dear Brothers,

Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We are pleased to inform you that we just successfully held our second YF Gym Day at the same venue at the College of Human Kinetics Gym of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. The first months of this year 2015 has indeed been a great blessing to all the Message youths in Metro Manila, as they were treated to another whole day of fellowship, another chance for a much closer bonding with their fellow young people from other Message churches, enjoy the various games and quizzes and most importantly another opportunity to listen to God’s Voice for our day, collectively as one big group united in the Word and united in love for one another.

Since the success of the first Young Foundations event in January, which truly blessed the young people who attended, a second event has been highly-anticipated among the youth. The young people have been actively asking if a second young people event is possible and when will it be. Testimonies from young people who attended the January event sparked more interest to push a second youth gathering. We are also getting positive and constructive feedback from the young people, as many individuals eagerly offered to help to hold another large-scale youth event. By God’s grace, the second Young Foundations event is held.

340 young people from 24 Message churches flocked the University of the Philippines Gym. What is new this time is that we got delegates attending from the province of Pangasinan (more than 200 kilometers north of Manila), and the province of Batangas (100 kilometers south of Manila), and even Davao City in Mindanao (1,500 kilometers south of Manila). It is a little overwhelming to meet in person brothers and sister, who one would normally meet only by phone or mail, especially brothers and sisters from places too far away for comfort, and might be speaking a different language!

But the language barrier is never a problem, as warm smiles, firm hand shakes, and brotherly love is projected among the excited delegates. Brother Branham’s 1964 Message Sir, We Would See Jesus, though played in English, proves that language is never a hindrance, that is, especially when the Holy Spirit goes into the room and flames up the hearts of the young listeners. The tape service also demonstrates the prophet’s gift of healing and discernment, and this is witnessed by the new generation of Message believers, as if they were personally present in Brother Branham’s time. “That is something that renews the joy of your salvation,” one young brother said of the marvelous service. Another brother said, “We might be different from each other, but we have one common denominator which is the Word coming forth from God’s vindicated prophet himself.” Oh, it was a moment of real unity! A unity in the Word!

The afternoon service solidified the bond between the young people from different churches. One particular game gives the young people a chance to interact by building the Stature of the Perfect Man on construction paper. There was also a quiz on the Mother Opossum, and by the scores of the young people, they seem to know very well Brother Branham’s stories. Then late in the afternoon, we are able to use the gym facilities: basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and dodge ball. The sports earned the young people more friends, but it was the ringing of the gym bell that seems to bring the young people even closer. It was a time to say goodbye to each other, but everyone was hoping to meet each other again.

So the biggest question among the young people: “When will be the third Young Foundations event?”

By that time we know that more people will pray for the ministry among the young people. We are beginning to see Brother Joseph’s vision and love and support for the young people materializing among the youth here in Manila. God willing, our next phase for this youth ministry might be in Pangasinan, or in Mindanao. We would love to share this genuine love and concern among our young people, not just in Manila, but all over the country as well.

God bless you.

Bro. Jeremiah
