YF Leaf Raking 2011

What would be the best way to start off a day of service for some of God’s children, or any day for that matter? How about 75 young people scattered around Voice Of God Recordings, Sword in hand, and sitting quiet before the Lord Jesus. We didn't want to leave out Saturday "Quiet Time" during this years Raking Leaves, so we spent the first hour together from 7-8 in prayer and meditation.
Now that we were energized by the Word, what would be the best way to get 75 kids motivated to work? Lots of sugar, hot chocolate and coffee!
This is how the youth of Jeffersonville started their morning this past Saturday before setting out to conquer the mass of leaves in the yards of our local elders and widows.
For the past several years, the youth have gathered at the peak of the fall season to spend a day cleaning up the yards of these precious veteran believers. It can be a lot of work for any one person to spend hours raking leaves, cleaning out gutters and such, but put 75 motivated kids in a yard full of leaves, and they vanish in minutes!
What a blast we had caravanning from one yard to the next in our 7 vehicle convoy. Even with 25 dozen donuts and lots of great fellowship and fun, the best and most rewarding part of the day, outside of quiet time, was to see the brightened faces that each of these saints expressed.
We thank the Lord for such an opportunity to do His children a service.
