Sewing Graduation Testimony

This neat story goes to show what you can accomplish with a little determination and inspiration from God's prophet.
Dear VGR and Young Foundations,
It is always a joy to read the testimonies on your websites, as it is a constant source of encouragement to me along this Christian journey.
When I saw the article “There’s Still Sewing Machines and Goods” I felt led to send this testimony to encourage other sewing sisters around the world that they’re not alone.
As sisters, we had come to the conclusion that it was almost impossible to dress decently without the use of a sewing machine, as most ready-made clothing have need of some sort of adjustment.
I was born of believing parents of this Message and my mom taught us girls how to sew. My elder sister started to sew at a very early age, (12) and many years later she began a small sewing class for some of the sisters at our fellowship. In recent times due to her marriage and migration these classes ceased. Over a year ago, upon the leadership of my husband, a Basic Sewing Class started at our home. The time selected for the class was when the brothers had “Brother’s Meeting” on Sunday afternoons.
The class started on February 07th 2010, with a short prayer, a theme scripture “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. -Phil. 4:13” and a short talk on sewing tips and requirements. Everyone was excited.
The classes began with 13 sisters most of which needed individual attention. I must testify that it was GOD’S AMAZING GRACE. I as the teacher was a little hesitant on having the classes, because I am far from being a seamstress and needed to be taught myself. It was challenging but God saw us through each session of which we are very grateful.
After about 25 sessions, in about one year’s time, we were able to cover the basics. We had a test and with the test piece we decided to have a little graduation. My husband made the certificates, we had a few snacks, a couple guests, some encouraging words and photo taking. The evening was well enjoyed by everyone. By the Grace of God we had 12 graduates with ages ranging from 14-38. We hope this is a blessing.
God Bless to the Bride of Christ around the world and special thanks to VGR and Young Foundations for all that they are doing for us.
God’s richest blessings be with you all.
Sewing sisters in Christ,
