In the midst of a terrible motorcycle accident, God had His protecting hand over this young brother. He spared his life, and now he wishes to tell how extraordinary our God is.
My precious brothers and sisters,
I greet you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this letter finds you well. I wish to share yet another story of our Lords great mercy and grace. As we all well know, our God can do anything.
December 27, 2010 was just another beautiful, frosty morning in Arkansas. I own a 500cc Kawasaki cruiser, and on the 27th at 7:00 that morning, I was driving my bike to my uncles shop. As I was traveling down the four-lane in our small town, a drunk driver in a Ford Ranger changed lanes, without warning. When he did this it put him right across my lane, with only 5 car length of distance between us. I was doing 45 miles an hour, I knew there was no way I could get around or slow down enough to evade him.
So I said the one thing that came to mind, "Help me Lord Jesus." Then I hit the truck in the side of the cab; all I could think was how bad this is going to hurt. However, just as I made contact with the truck I blacked out; not from the force of impact, I didn't hit my head, but something made me black out. I didn't wake up till a few seconds after the wreck was over. I was air-vacted to St. Johns hospital in Springfield, MO. Even after all of this I still didn't know how blessed I was because of His protection.
The following information the police confirmed from some bi-standers. I locked my brakes into a 39ft. skid, then my motorcycle went under the truck, totaling the bike, and my body was thrown over the cab. I flipped twice, and then landed 20ft. from the wreck. I had leather pants, a blue jean jacket, and a pair of coveralls on.
When I got to the hospital I went strait into surgery. They got it all squared away, but later I found out that God was holding my hand, because during the surgery, I left this world and He brought me back.
On my left leg, the thigh bone was broken twice and split once, my knee cap was shattered, and my calf bone was fractured. On my right leg I tore three of the four ligaments in my right knee.
When I was in the hospital I thought "man, I'm pretty bad off." But then I discovered there was a woman in the next room over that could only move her fingers, and she was in a "car" wreck. Here I was on a motorcycle and she was in a car, and she was in a way worse condition than me.
I am already putting full weight on my right leg, and might be able to start putting some weight on my left leg in 4-5 months. But my recovery has been faster than expected so far, so that could change. They said a year to a year and a half before I can start doing the things I used to.
I am sorry this is so long, but I must tell how extraordinary our God is. Please keep me in your prayers, as I will keep you in mine.
Your Brother in Christ
