Taking Strides
Tuesday, April 12, 2011
We recently received this very encouraging news from Brother Keith Herne, our VGR South Africa representative, concerning the youth in his region. They're catching the vision, and taking strides to hear more of the Eternal Word of God.
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus.
After the YF banquet we had in Cape Town last year, many young people were wanting to spend time together when they were free. It became such that we would get text messages every Friday from different people asking me what our plans are over the weekend and if they could join in whatever we were doing. So over weekends we would get together and have a sing-along and barbecue as often as always possible, just so the young people could spend time together.
One evening we were invited to a Message gospel singing, and after the singing we got something to eat and went to a brother's home. There we sat and discussed what an impact the banquet had on the young people, and how we don't have any activities to keep them busy. The idea was born that we would have tape meetings on a Friday evening once a month, and we earnestly prayed about this.
Because our group of friends who decided to do this were from different assemblies, we decided to invite everybody who wanted to come. We decided to approach the pastors who had church buildings to see if they would allow us to use it. The idea was to have a brother lead a few choruses and then just have Brother Branham speak. We did not want anybody preaching other than the prophet.
Immediately after the first tape meeting, We were inundated with requests for more of such tape meetings as often as possible. Every form of media was used to send testimonies of the tape meetings and the blessings it has been to those who were present. Requests for more, and consequently people from outside of Cape Town, got to know of our gatherings and wanted to know why Voice of God was not doing the same in their towns. It was explained that it is not a Voice of God initiative, but it is just Christian friends who decided they wanted to do more than just fun and games when getting together, they wanted to hear Malachi 4 as often as possible. So now there are young people in different parts of the country listening to tapes in small groups at their homes, where before they would've just spent their evening doing other things.
We have had people travel from over 150km (~100miles) to get here on a Friday night after work, college, school, just to sit with their peers and listen to the prophet speak to them.
There has been many skeptics and this has brought many tears, because our objective was not to promote anyone other than our prophet. But then what a reward when we get:
- -A phone call from a sister (17) telling us that when she walked out of the tape meeting feeling like royalty because she was reminded by Brother Branham of who she really is.
- -A chat with a sister (19) who never saw the need to dress different to the world but changed her talk and dress since coming to these tape meetings.
- -A call from parents who has a backslidden son (22) with a drug problem, but since he has seen the change in his sister from the tape meetings, he wants to join us even though he is shy.
- -A call from parents who said they were concerned about their daughter (18) and her worldly friends, but since she has been coming to the tape meetings she has no desire to join her friends anymore.
- -A sister (20) who called me to say she was born in the Message but never read a Spoken Word book on her own, but since coming to the tape meetings she has been reading books daily and cant get enough.
- -A brother (20) who says he prefers to not drive too much so he can save his money for fuel so he doesn’t have to miss out when we have these tape meetings.
The testimonies just go on and on, and this makes it all worth it.
Now the song, "We'll Work Till Jesus Comes," just means so much more. We are so very honored that God has chosen us to not only serve His Bride, but to be a part of His Elected Lady.
God Bless
Brother Keith
