The Inside Man

December 12, 1953
“Do you ever think that inside of our body is another man? Did you know that, that there's another man inside of our body? And that's a spirit man. Did you ever think of that...” 53-1212 The Inside Man

When you want to reach out and grab something with your hand, something has to tell your hand to move and grab ahold. Your brain is what does that. It sends a signal to your hand saying, "move and grab that pencil." If your hand wasn't attached to your body, it wouldn't know what to do. It would be lifeless, because it has nothing to control it's movements.

It's the same with our spirits. Whatever the inside spirit man is attached to, that's who is going to do the controlling. If it's of faith and the Holy Spirit in our hearts, He'll control our actions and tell us just what we need to do. If it's of unbelief and the world, then the devil will get in there and take control. We want God to be the control center in our lives.

Brother Branham spoke a lot on the subject of the inside/inner man throughout the Message. We've attached several quotes on this topic, and we pray they give you more revelation of the inside life we should live in Christ. This particular sermon was preached at Brother Boze's Philadelphia church in Chicago, IL in 1953.

God bless the beginning of your studies this Revival Month.

Now, this inside man, if it--if it is of God, it's the Spirit of God (Is that right?) that's inside our being. Now, my finger could not move without something making it move. It works from an intelligent here that the mind subconsciously... Just maybe if I'd happen to think to reach over here; I don't have to think about it. It just look like... Now, there's where faith lays.

53-1212 The Inside Man

"That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God."

Ephesians 3:16-20

The outside man is governed by five senses: see, taste, feel, smell and hear. The inside man is governed by two senses: either faith or unbelief. If you believe it, it's just as real to you as if any of the natural senses of the body declare it. And truly, these senses of the body can be fooled, but faith is absolutely infallible.

53-1103 Taking God At His Word

Now, many times, I know all Christians know this, that people will think, "Well, it just can't happen, but yet, in my heart there's something tells me, that it's going to happen." Did you ever have that experience, you Christians? Sure, you have. That's that inside man thinking. It cast down reasons; it doesn't have anything to do with the reasoning, because with--with God, words should not be reasoned. We cannot reason out God. God is never known by science, never is God known by--by mental powers. God is only known by faith.

60-0729 What It Take To Overcome All Unbelief Our Faith

But man never gives the inside man a chance to explain what is right, therefore that's what causes the trouble. Watch. We find, if he doesn't do it, then what happens?

But God will judge you by what kind of a spirit you got in you; not judge you by your body, but by your spirit, that inner man.

The outside man is a physical being which is controlled by six senses... or five senses, rather. The inside man is a spirit man which is controlled by five senses; conscience, and love, and so forth. The outside man; see, taste, feel, smell, hear. But the inside of that spirit is a soul, and it's controlled by one thing, your free will. You can accept what the devil says or accept what God says. And that'll determine what spirit is in there. If it's the Spirit of God, It'll feed on the things of God, and It won't feed on anything of the world.

65-0801M The God Of This Evil Age

And man when he chooses, as the days go on, we find man continually getting worse, choosing rather to walk by sight, than stead of by faith, by the Unseen. And when he does that, he robs the inner man, which is the soul. And that's the eternal part of man.
