YF Yard Sale Sponsorship Tuesday, February 08, 2011

This group of Arizona youth pulled together with families and church to take part in the recent Half Mile Hailer Missionary Sponsorship Project.

Dear YF,

I'm writing today to tell you of a "YF Yard Sale" the youth of our area have had. Some of them have been wanting to do this since seeing the web site entry from the article, Yard Sale For Jesus

Finally a date was selected, two weeks away, and they started to put it all together. In this short time a mass of items were donated by families in the area. The sale was advertised and located at a central location owned by one of the young men. It was a success!

Because of our location in Hereford, AZ. bordering Mexico, much of the buyers were from Mexico. We rounded up our Spanish tracks and books along with English and set up a table in the center of the sale area. The first customer was from Mexico and arrived before sunrise Friday. The response was very positive, and during the two days several of the parents were approached to compliment the YF Youth. One thing that caught attention was the young ladies in their YF shirts and matching long braids.

Hot dogs, soda, bottled water, and of course homemade cookies and deserts were also a "hit". We trust that in addition to the funds that were raised to help sponsor the Half Mile Hailer Project, that some seed was planted in a ready heart. Our own youth were blessed at being a witness in some small way and had a wonderful time of fellowship.

God Bless you all, you are in our prayers and our love is with you.

This is an account of the yard sale from one of the moms that was present:

Dear Young Foundations,

When I read the Holy Apparel article, I was truly touched in my heart. Then, a few days later, I witnessed an experience that imprinted my heart for life.

On October the first and second, the youth of our small fellowship had a large yard sale to raise funds for Voice Of God Recordings. As the public came to look through our goodies, the noticed the way the girls were dressed (long full skirts and mostly Young Foundations shirts).

There were definitely comments made by our customers about how the girls looked, and questions asked, "Why do all the girls have skirts on?" Are you Mennonites?" These comments then opened a door for us to witness about Brother Branham's ministry and ask if they wanted any of our tracts or books.

I was feeling so very proud of our youth. I was so happy that the public noticed we were dressed in "Holy Apparel." Then I began to wonder how our youth felt about these comments. I know the devil tries to make the Christian youth feel out of place for being different. The spirit of worldliness tries to pull them away from godliness. I thought, "I hope they take these comments as compliments."

On the last day and the last hours of that day, the business became slow. A few of the girls became desperate for customers. They went to the main road and began trying to direct traffic to our sale. They were excited when they accomplished getting an old man in a truck to pull up to the sale.

He was a homely, elderly gentleman, and had trouble walking. He got out of his vehicle and came directly over to where the youth were gathered. He said, "I just had to stop and tell you how beautiful you ladies are. The way you dress and conduct yourselves is beautiful."

He then ambled around the sale, not even interested in the items for sale, and greeted the older believers. He returned to the youth and with tears welling up told them how beautiful they all were in their holy apparel. A presence of awe, honor, and respect engulfed me as he took one of the girls by the hand as if she were royalty and gently told her, "I just want you to know the way you are is beautiful." He slowly made his way back to his truck, and drove away. We all stood there not knowing what to think.

After packing everything up to leave, I hugged each girl good-bye. Something spoke to my heart and said, "Tell them girls the way that old man felt about them is exactly the way God feels about them."

As my husband and I were driving home, a quote of Brother Branham came to my heart from the message "Recognizing Your Day And It's Message" preached in Jeffersonville, IN., on July 26, 1964. He says, "Do you know the woman plays a great part in the last days? Do you know the Bible said, that, "Those who escape out of this great damnation will be a beautiful branch before the Lord"? Someday I'll get to it, the Lord willing, for it, for you women. Let you see what God thinks of the woman that really escape this damnation of this day. Said, "She would be beautiful.""

God bless you,

A Sister in Arizona
