Micaiah The Prophet

April 26, 1961

Brother Branham tells the story of a Scotchman that greatly needed to ascend a mountain and make it to the other side. The road was only ten inches wider than the wheels of the carriage, and therefore was a very dangerous journey that would require the most experienced driver. Three men were present to qualify for the job. The first was certain he could drive his team of horses at a gallop and stay within two inches of the rim, all the way around without falling off. That sounded like an impressive driver for the job, but the next driver was even more appealing. He said he could go around the road at a full gallop and still stay within inches of the edge. Then there was the third driver. When he was asked of his abilities, he was confident he could probably do the same as the other drivers, but he wasn't willing to take that kind of a risk. He said he would stay just as close to the side of the mountain as possible. "I'm your passenger," said the Scotchman.

It wasn't the men who thought they would win the job by seeing how close to danger they could get without being consumed by it. It was the man who wanted to see how far away he could stay from the danger. For what good would've it done the Scotchman if he perished on the mountain and never reached his destination? His life was of great value, and it was expedient for him to make the journey with the driver that best ensured his safety.

"That's right. And that's the way it is. Don't see what you can do to get by with it before God; see how far you can stay away from sin, and all shapes, and orders, and unbelief. And abstain from everything that's ungodly. Get away from it. Stay away from it." 61-0426

When you see the world inviting you to become part of its alluring filth, as Brother Branham would say, they got an axe to grind. The devil is after you to take your life. Keep out of that company. No matter how pleasant or appealing it may seem, we are to shun the very appearance of evil. As Christians and sons and daughters of God, we're not to see how close we can get to the world without sinning. We are to see how far we can stay away from it.

Ahab brought an appealing 400 trained prophets before Jehoshaphat with the supposed "thus saith the Lord." But their prophecies were false and in error with the Word of God. They were seeing how close they could get to the edge of the cliff. But then there was one with the true THUS SAITH THE LORD who wouldn't compromise. Micaiah stood firm on the road with the vindicated Word of God. The prophecies of the 400 failed, but every word Micaiah spoke came to pass.

This final Revival Month message, let's hold fast to the words of God's prophet. In a time when there are so many false prophecies and teachings, we thank God we've been given the best driver there is to guide us safely over the mountain.
