The Calling Of Abraham
November 16, 1955
There was nothing he had done to be worthy of such a calling. He wasn't better than any other man, yet God, by sovereign election called Abraham.
Abraham had come down from the tower of Babel with his father, mother, and wife Sarah. He lived in Shinar in the city of Ur, which was of the land of Chaldean. Through the knowledge of God's prophet, we find in this message that he lived a pretty good life. "...he'd go out, probably in the morning and eat berries, and into the bush and kill an animal for his protein, and then blackberries, and so forth."
He was just an ordinary man, yet God had a great purpose for Abraham. It wasn't until he was seventy-five years old before God unconditionally elected and called him. Abraham had nothing to do with it, just as we don't. He didn't seek God, but God sought him. God by His love saved him, and He gave him an unconditional covenant that He would do the same to the Seed of Abraham, which we are.
There are so many wonderful types to our lives today that Brother Branham uses in this message. It's inspiring to hear how Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong giving praise to God. What an encouragement to know that the same promise God gave to Abraham, He gave to us too.
We pray this third message of November Revival Month is an extra special blessing to each of you.
