There's Still Sewing Machines And Goods
Friday, December 10, 2010
Brother Branham often made the comment, "They still got sewing machines and sell goods." In today's world, this is hardly an acceptable method of making clothes. But for believers, the tradition lives on. This group of young sisters from Arizona were taken in by an elder sister and taught the trade.
Sewing Class:
Recently, several young sisters from the Phoenix area were invited into Sister Sharon Johnson's home for basic sewing lessons. Sister Johnson began each lesson with a brief prayer and a quote by Brother Branham regarding sewing machines and goods. During the first lesson, the young ladies were taught the importance of keeping their sewing machines cleaned and well oiled. They also learned about the various fabric types, important notions that would be needed, and the basics of pattern instructions.
During the second class, patterns were laid out on the fabric and the cutting began. Next the real fun started. Each girl, with the help of mom, grandmother or Sister Johnson, started sewing their very own skirt.
During the third class the skirts were completed. Each of the girls went home wearing the skirt the had made.
It was agreed upon to use the remnants from each of their fabrics and put together a patchwork quilt. The young sisters are going to give the quilt to Brother Amalong. We have asked that he take the quilt to Mexico and give to to a needy new mother.
The young ladies have not only learned the skill of sewing a garment of their own, but they are also excited about being involved in a little missionary work.
The young ladies who attended the sewing class were: Larkanne and Tabitha Barber, Naomi Lawson, Rhesa Martin, Lily Myers, Amanda Stewart, and Hannah Warren.

God bless you!
P.S. Shortly after receiving the article above, we got the news that Brother Amalong and Brother Moseley made the trip to Mexico, and they found a thankful couple with a new born infant that they felt led to give the quilt to. Here is the picture of the little family.
