When all else fails and all hope seems gone, that's when our God comes on the scene and makes His Power known. This amazing testimony proves that He is Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.
This testimony relates to events that occurred on the 31st of August 2008. On this day our church in Johannesburg, South Africa experienced the grace of our Dear Lord in a way that will never be forgotten.
Our story starts on a windy Sunday morning. August is known to be a very windy month in Johannesburg. Whilst at church that morning, events unfolded that would change our lives forever.
Calah Thompson is one of 10 grandchildren God has given to me and my dear wife sister. This little 8 year old has a unique, outgoing and colorful personality. Little did we know Satan was going to try to take her life.
The Sunday school had just finished the morning lesson, as usual before the minister came out to preach the Word. Upon dismissal into the church, little Calah decided to go to the church's kitchen for a glass of water.
Meanwhile, in the main service a sister was giving a testimony in song. During the testimony we heard a loud banging noise coming from the hall area which is adjacent to the church building. I immediately turned to one of the elders and asked what the noise was. Being a very windy morning, we assumed that it was one of the windows or doors being slammed by the wind and we continued enjoying the song service.
After the testimony, the chorus leader was just about ready to call up the minister to preach when a sister stormed into the church building. The look on her face told us that something really bad had happened. She was frantically waving her hands in the air and gestured for me and the deacons to come quickly, pointing towards the hall area. I immediately jumped up from my seat as fast as I could and ran towards the kitchen which is located inside the hall, following the sister's hand gestures. A deacon in our church following close behind.
As we approached the kitchen door, we noticed that a large kitchen cupboard had fallen on little Calah's head, pinning her to the ground. Her body seemed lifeless. We then realized that the noise we heard ten minutes earlier was the cupboard falling on her head.
10 Year old Elizabeth, Calah's older sister, was first to find Calah when she walked into the kitchen searching for her little sister. She initially thought that Calah was pretending, but as she got close and saw the blood coming from underneath the cupboard, she realized that her sister was badly hurt. She desperately called out to her sister, trying to lift the cupboard, but it was too heavy for her little arms to bear. She ran towards the Sunday School room where her mother, Sister Bernadette, was finishing up after having taught the lesson that morning. Sister Bernadette prayed to the Lord to give her strength, and by the grace of God she managed to lift a cupboard that later took four adult men to lift. She rested it on her knees, screaming to Elizabeth to pull Calah from underneath. As Elizabeth pulled at Calah's body, blood was streaming from her mouth, ears, and her left eye had swollen to about the size of an orange. Sister Bernadette picked up her daughter looking for signs of life, but she was lifeless.
We got to the kitchen and I told the deacon brother to go behind the pulpit and tell the church to pray. An elder brother carried Calah into the foyer, where her father, Caleb Thompson, took her in his arms. We anointed her with oil and all started praying with desperation for God to intervene and restore her life. A wave of the anointing could be felt coming from the church with the prayers of the saints going up. I was praying with my hands on her when I felt her body jerk back to life. She started groaning and clots of blood were streaming from her nose and mouth.
She was then rushed to the nearest hospital about 15 minutes away. Also in the car was a sister who was a professional nurse. Calah was slipping away and there was great panic inside the car.
When they got to the hospital, staff refused to assist Calah as her parents could not furnish proof of medical insurance. Eventually we found the card and they attended to her.
I arrived at the hospital a few minutes later and realized the seriousness of my granddaughter's condition. Her head had swollen to twice its normal size and her eye now was swollen shut.
We called back to the believers at church to continue praying. The church prayed with different brothers going up front individually. The minister, scheduled to preach that morning, encouraged the believers to build faith and continue praying. We were all interceding for her little life.

While we were crying out for God to spare her life, I realized the condition of the world as the nurses in the hospital were joking and making fun of the believers praying and crying. Her condition seemingly got worse and she even flat-lined at one stage. The Lord was so good, that she pulled through and they moved her to the intensive care unit, where her condition stabilized.
As I was sitting there downhearted, the enemy started preaching to me. He told me that I was the cause of her condition. Whilst condemning myself the Holy Spirit spoke to me, bringing to my remembrance something that happened the night before.
On the 30th August, the day before Calah's accident, I had just returned home from a tape service where we listened to the message "Who is this?" preached by our prophet William Branham. The message was a real blessing to us. My sons, Luke and Caleb had dropped by our house after church. We were still under the anointing of the message we listened to earlier and we continued to fellowship on the meeting.
As a family we were going through a very hard trial, and felt encouraged. We could sense the Presence of God. At approximately 9:15pm, as my sons were leaving, we noticed a dove on the roof of Luke's car.
It was so unusual for a dove to be in the outdoors that time of the night. If it had been on the house roof or in a tree, we would not have seen it, but it was positioned in a place where one could not miss it.
We took photographs of this unusual sight and Luke decided to record it using a video camera. It just stood still, as if posing for the camera, looking at each of us.
After about 10 minutes, I tried to catch it in order to ensure nothing happens to it. Just then it flew to the ground. Our dog seeing the dove, immediately attacked it. I ran and shoved the dog away from the bird, falling on my face in the process. This time the dove flew towards the house and the dog again charged, trying to kill it. I jumped up and saved the dove again, all the time being recorded. Luke then put down the camera and kept the dog back and I could then pick up the dove. It was wounded so I put it into my neighbors yard, where it was safe. All of us felt so good that the dove was safe and that the dog did not kill it. We did not understand why this had happened, but I knew deep within that it was for a purpose.
Sitting there in the hospital that day I realized what the previous night meant, He had sent me a sign of a dove. He revealed that the dog was the enemy, trying to kill the dove, "Our little Calah." He wounded her, but could not kill her. Praise God! Immediately my faith was raised.
I reminded my family about it and even testified to believers, as I knew that she would pull through, regardless of the symptoms.
Back to Calah, her head had swelled and was contorted. Cat-scan and X-Ray results showed that her skull had broken in many places and that there had been swelling on the brain.
Upon the advice of Sister Bernadette's Aunt, we moved Calah to a hospital with better pediatric facilities. She was moved by ambulance, this was very risky but once again the Lord undertook and it all went well.
She was in a semi-coma state and doctors felt she would be spending a long time in ICU. But we kept on praying. Believers passed on word of Calah's condition. Text messages and emails were sent and in one day believers across the world were praying for Calah. A brother from Durban, South Africa heard about her condition and emailed out a prayer request to different prayer groups. He said that he received over two thousand responses from people inquiring and praying for her.
As long as the swelling was as bad as it was, doctors could not do much and just gave her morphine for the pain. All they could do was to monitor her condition and hope for the best. A maxillofacial surgeon's synopsis required a series of operations to rectify all the breakages. They said a chain would have to be inserted over the left eyebrow to set shattered facial bones. He added that there was a huge crack on the skull running from ear to ear. If this bone had cracked any further it would have severed her facial nerves and resulted in permanent damage. He was worried and skeptical over her recovery and felt that the process would be a long one. Looking at the symptoms, it all looked hopeless.
When she woke out of the coma, the first thing she asked for was her mom and if she had homework to do, and why she could not see her cousins. Bernadette had stayed by her daughter's bedside all along. She clung onto a song that would become her favorite "This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let It Shine."
The next day I woke up, picked up one of Bro. Branham's books and read, "So worry has no virtue to it, at all, but faith has all virtue. Believe!" When I received a call from Caleb saying she was not responding, I remembered that quote, and advised him that, though the symptoms are bad and he might feel discouraged he should not look at the symptoms, as it only makes you worry and there is no virtue in it. I encouraged him to keep the faith as it can change the situation. When one looked at her, it was almost impossible to have faith, but God gave us a song: "Mercy Said No, I'm Not Gonna Let You Go." We continually encouraged one another, not looking at the symptoms. She recovered amazingly with every visit, and started coloring in her books. She wanted to know when she could go home.
After the third day she was discharged from ICU. This was after doctors advised that she would spend a long time there. Praise the Lord!
Calah had lost her balance and had to learn how to walk again. Doctor's tested her left eye and found that she had double vision and could only see a white light. When the believers heard this they started praying again. Believers got everybody praying for her including Hindus, Muslims and Jews. These prayers yielded immediate results with her vision being restored. People we don’t know were rejoicing with us on every bit of positive feedback, and were there praying through the challenges. This proves that our God is still alive and still the same yesterday, today and forever.
By accident, Bernadette sent text messages meant for a family member to a complete stranger, and we only noticed this when the lady who has now become a friend, called inquiring on Calah's condition. She explained how she got her pastor and church to pray for Calah. God, by Bernadette's mistake, got more people praying for her.
Subsequent cat scans showed that there was a blood clot on her brain and that she lost 40% hearing in her right ear. However, doctor's were amazed at her speedy recovery and decided that she could go home. It was such a great miracle that God had performed. We were rejoicing and praising the Lord at this supernatural healing. We forwarded the good news to the believers. GOD IS GREAT, GOD IS GOOD and All Our Praise goes to HIM!
We still had to ensure that she was handled very gently with minimal activity. She is very energetic and this was difficult for her. She needed assistance to walk, but after two days at home, she could walk perfectly by herself. Again we saw the hand of God, because the doctor's said that she would have to go for special lessons to learn how to walk again. OUR GOD IS SMART!
Everyday, one could see her recovering more and more. She just got better and better all the time. She could not understand why she could not go to school, but she had done so well at school that her teacher felt that she could stay at home for the remainder of that school year. Her work would be sent to her and the teacher would give her one-on-one tutoring just to help her get through the syllabus.
After being at home for a month, Calah had a scheduled check-up, to monitor her progress. Bernie asked the doctor if the blood clot was smaller, but he replied saying, "No it is not smaller, it is gone." Again we had reason to rejoice.
We took Calah to an eye specialist and tests revealed that her eye had healed perfectly. It still hurts when she moves the eye, and the movement is limited, but the doctor said that it would come right as she grows. The results were positive and overcame the symptoms, every time God did the work.
They all thought that she would have permanent brain damage and would be a "cabbage," but she is back to her bubbly, lively self again, doing everything that other kids do. We would like to give God all the Glory, because no man can heal. Healing comes from God and that is why we give Him all the Glory.

We had a Thanksgiving Service on 19 October 2008 to Honor our Lord for Calah's healing. It was a glorious day, where most people who had seen her, gave their testimonies to thank God for His healing hand that was upon her. There is still so much to say about this miracle, but we want to leave this testimony with you and trust that it will bless and give you Faith to trust God at all times. No matter what you may be going through. There have been many other miracles that took place in our church, but this one has been special to us, as it happened during a time that our church and my family, were going through a hard trial.
We would also like to thank everybody, ministers and churches, family and believers, and all the people that helped to intercede for Calah, and their kind words during this period. A very special Thank You goes out to our local church for their undying support. May God Bless You All.
This testimony is to give all the glory to Jesus and has been written to encourage someone out there that needs healing or needs a touch from God. He is still alive and is still a Healer. He will be to you, whatever you want Him to be. The Word of God said to make known His Works among His people!
May God Richly Bless You.
