The Calling Monday, May 17, 2010

As sons and daughters of God, we are constantly hearing the call from our Lord and Maker to come up a little higher into His presence. We will continually move to these higher grounds as we gain more strength from the ever familiar Voice that He speaks to us through. One of these days, we'll reach our final destination in Glory. The poem below beautifully describes such a journey of God's calling to His children.

Though I am no longer a "Young person" I am still very young at heart. The Lord gave me this poem many years ago when I was much younger, and lately it seems He has been dealing with me to send it in to YF. I pray it is an encouragement to someone.

The Calling

I hear a Voice calling, "Come up a little higher, Up where the eagles soar, Where burdens become lighter." I lift my eyes to Heaven, And I wonder how can I, Ever reach that Calling, Ever climb so high? But still the Calling lingers, And it seems to pull me on, To where my heart is yearning, Where I know that I belong. The first steps are the hardest, Or at least they seem to be, For I am weak and feeble, But this Climb will strengthen me. I pause only to listen, For that Voice I long to hear, For with each and every Calling, That Voice becomes more dear. I struggle on a little farther, Reaching Heights Unknown, And though I'm bruised and battered, I know I'm nearing Home. So onward I am pressing, Till I reach that Call Divine, Gaining victory on the way, With His nail scarred hand in mine.
