What Is The Holy Ghost ?

When Brother Branham preached this message in December, 1959, he had asked the people to burn every bridge that's behind them and make every sin right. He wanted them to come into this Holy Ghost series with all that was in their hearts and lives. There was a great need in the tabernacle at that time, as Brother Branham put it, "...for a filling or a consecration, a deeper life, a closer walk with God." It was to be a series of messages, not to preach, but to teach from the Word of God the things that he knew the people needed. Just as Brother Branham trusted his congregation had been praying and fasting, and making restitutions, and getting ready to receive something from God, he and his wife consecrated themselves anew to God for a complete service before the meetings were set in motion.

As we prepare to start this series and once more listen to God's Holy Word, let us consecrate our lives afresh to the service of God, and surrender our own wills and everything to Him. "And I know that he that will come hungry will not go away hungry, but God will feed with the Bread of Life." If there was a great need amongst the believers in 1959 to know what the Holy Ghost is, and to receive It, then how much more today when the devil is raging like never before.

"What Is the Holy Spirit?" What is It? And now, the reason I have taken these subject in line like this, you cannot come and receive the Holy Spirit, unless you know what It is. And you cannot receive It (if you know what It is), unless you believe It's given to you and It's for you. And then you cannot know whether you've got It or not, unless you know what results It brings. So if you know what It is, and who It's to, and what action It brings when It comes, then you'll know what you've got when you get It. See? That just would settle it."
