The Jasper, TX Sunday School group from Believers Fellowship Tabernacle have been supporting the Lighthouse Projects for some time now with their Jesus Jars. Recently, they turned their focus to the YF Missionary Sponsorship Project in Peru. Below is the inspiring story of how the burden of these children to do a work for the Lord transpired into a humongous "Yard Sale for Jesus."

Several weeks back, our Sunday school teacher for the 6-11 year olds was speaking to the children about missionary work across seas. Every Sunday, these precious children anxiously add money to their Jesus Jars and demonstrate eagerness to sponsor another Lighthouse Project for their brothers and sisters overseas. This time, however, the children decided they wanted to do something more! While talking about the new Peru sponsorship program available at Young Foundations, the role of teacher and student quickly switched. This time it was the child telling the teacher many wonderful and thoughtful ideas to raise money for missionary work. As the ideas poured out from these children who have, time and time again, shown burdens for missionary work, one suggestion stood out from all the rest...a yard sale. These inventive children had decided they would host a Yard Sale for Jesus along with a bake sale to raise the necessary money to buy solar panels for their brothers and sisters across the world.

Nearly all the families in the church went right to work searching their attics, closets, and garages for items that they could sell. The children were wonderful about keeping their parents on track and not letting them forget their duty!

Once the location and dates were decided, fliers were made and passed out all over the city. Several restaurants even let us hang them up there! Since the sale was to be on a Friday and Saturday, everyone met on Thursday to combine all the items and start the tedious task of pricing all of the merchandise. I don't believe anyone was expecting the wonderful fellowship that resulted out of all this!

The Lord was truly with us as the Yard Sale for Jesus opened up early Friday morning. Our young yard sale troopers were each armed with a money apron, books and pamphlets, and plenty of baked goods to sell. They offered each customer a bag of yummy cookies, and a copy of either A Man Sent From God, How The Angle Came To Me, or The Revelation Of Jesus Christ. One woman even asked if she could have more than one pamphlet!

After all was said and done, the Yard Sale for Jesus was a complete success and a wonderful experience for all involved. It was such a joy in all our hearts to see the children more adamant about passing out those books and pamphlets than making money. Even so, after two days of working, witnessing, and fellowshipping, the Sunday school children raised exactly seventeen hundred and seventeen dollars!

Praise God for this beautiful Message and allowing us to be a part of supplying the Voice of God to others.

God Bless You

What a blessing it was to see how the youth stayed focused on the Word throughout their entire sale. We thank the Lord for the Foundation these children have, and for the burden and dedication they have for God's Word and His needy children. We are honored to work side-by-side with our brothers and sisters to supply all who we can with the Voice of God for these last days.
