Hurricane Mountain Friday, December 11, 2009

There are thousands of places you could go to enjoy a few days in the outdoors, but very few of these are so special to have been trodden by the footsteps of God's prophet. The slideshow above and article below came from a youth group in Pennsylvania who were fortunate enough to travel to one of these locations, and walk where Brother Branham may have once walked.

God Bless You, Young Foundations!

This summer, our PA Youth Group had the wonderful privilege of traveling to Hurricane Mountain in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, for a camping trip. We camped for five days at Half Moon Pond State Park in Vermont, just south of beautiful Lake Champlain. The main reason for planning our trip so far from home, was the opportunity for the youth to visit a place so special to Brother Branham. Hurricane Mountain is located near Lake Chaplain which separates New York and Vermont. There is more that took place in and around this mountain than most of our youth ever knew. It was here that the Holy Spirit revealed to Brother Branham that the devil had a trap set for him and just a couple days later, while holding a service in Burlington, Vt (just an hour north) a boy and girl acted out in the service and Brother Branham could have done anything, but he forgave them. It was here that the events heard on "A Guide" and "The Mighty Conqueror" took place where Brother Branham got lost and couldn't find his way out. A hand touched his shoulder, and when he turned to see who touched him, the clouds had parted so that he could see the fire tower on Hurricane Mountain. What an awesome testimony!

We had the opportunity of hiking the footpath up the mountain and seeing the tower Brother Branham spoke of. Well, to say we were excited to make this hike is quite the understatement, but to say it was hard may also be an understatement! The fastest in our group made it to the peak in just shy of two hours with the stragglers thankfully reaching the top in 3 1/2 hours. It was easy to understand why Brother Branham loved this area, with mountains continuing as far as the eye could see. To the East lay Lake Champlain and the mountains of Vermont. To the north we could see Canada, the direction that Brother Branham was walking when the hand touched him. We had an awesome time on the mountain taking pictures, eating and for some, climbing up the tower, but the best time we had was listening to a 40-minute portion of the Message, "A Guide" where Brother Branham tells of the event that inspired this particular Message. As we listened to the Message we faced north, the direction that Brother Branham described. It was a blessing for us to realize the incredible test Brother Branham experienced being 6 miles north of Hurricane Mountain when he saw the tower; for him to hike over bluffs, through valleys, around and over mountains in harsh weather conditions in an effort to save his wife and baby (Bro. Billy). Oh, what a feeling of joy he had when his aching arms and hands finally struck the guide wire leading from the tower to the cabin where his loved ones were. It was a humbling experience as we realized that it's the same today...Brother Branham leading the Bride of Christ to a place of safety. What a guide he was for us, leading us to The Guide.

God bless you all
