How Can I Overcome
August 25, 1963
The revival fires are burning once again, and this month we are doing things slightly different. Like last year, instead of having just one message every two weeks, we are going to play a different tape every week throughout the month of September. Each new message will be posted on the YF website with a new set of challenging quiz questions. In order to receive credit for the quizzes, they must be submitted by the specified date on the quiz page. All of the messages that have been chosen for revival month are wonderful, life guiding sermons taught by God's prophet and messenger. Be sure to listen to each tape closely, and don't miss out on this year's prize for those who receive a 90% altogether.
The first message of Revival Month is "How Can I Overcome." We know as you listen to this message that it will bless your hearts abundantly.
There were only eight souls out of millions who overcame in the days of Noah, three in the days of Lot, two out of two-million of the children of Israel, and four in the days of Daniel. Each age has had its battles, and for each age God has had overcomers. But never in the history of all ages has the battle been so great and sin so prevalent. The Laodicea Church Age is the grandest of all ages, because it's the ending of time and the blending of Eternity, but the church has cast Christ to the outside and closed the door. Brother Branham said that now it's down to the individual that will overcome.
Though the battle is raging, we have nothing to fear as sons and daughters of God, for we are more than able to overcome. Christ has shown us the way.
Christ Jesus was tempted above any man that ever could be tempted. "The Bible said, "He was tempted in all points like we are, yet without sin." He was tempted by--by drinking. He was tempted by women. He was tempted by everything that could be tempted by. He was tempted by everything that we are. He was a Man., and yet you couldn't put a mark on Him. Yes, sir."
How did He overcome every temptation? By the Word, because He was the Word!
As Christ was tempted, so must we be tempted and tried. Brother Branham said that every overcomer had to be put to the test. But "What is the Word of promise to every Christian? "Greater is He that's in you than he that's in the world." Then how do I overcome? Not me, but the Word that's in me. The Word is God. Then I overcome the things of the world, because it's the Word in me. "If ye abide in Me, My Words in you, then just ask what you will." Just keep pressing up. You're coming to the top, as sure as anything. See? You got to come to the top."
