Congo Garden
Monday, January 05, 2009
A short time ago, we received a letter and a few pictures at our Canadian office concerning a garden. It was destined for the US from a small YF outreach in the far away Congo.
Our sister at the VGR office in Canada did her best to translate the letter so that we could understand the contents.
After looking at the pictures on www.youngfoundations.org, the young people of my church decided to do their own garden for them to also support VGR.

The church "Chambre du Roi" also have a missionary surplus for the distributing of VGR materials, and we already contacted Bro. Mali concerning this (Bro. Mali is our main representative in Kinshasa, DRC).
Matadi (meaning rock, stone) is a city full of stones where we live, and is 227 miles from Kinshasa. Here's the pictures of the spinach and the "armantes" (It's an African vegetable). These vegetables are very good with smoked fish served with palm nuts and moambe (An African sauce).

Your prayers and suggestions will be a great encouragement for me and the church. May God richly bless you!
Pastor Madiela Bernard, Matadi, DRC
It makes sense that Matadi means stone, considering much of the city was built on a steep, stone covered hill.

Matadi is the chief sea port for all of DRC and therefore where VGR ships all of the material going into the Central African Kinshasa office. It also serves as a major port for Rep. of Congo, Brazzaville office. VGR has a small library located near the port of Matadi. A portion of the incoming materials at this location is distributed throughout the countryside to area churches and homes.
