Our Cross

This poem was written by a sister who's loved one was on his death bed, yet God in His rich mercy gave her strength through it all as she put on the whole armor of God and claimed his healing.
Sometimes we just don’t understand
When we see our loved ones suffer
And we know they have a heart of gold
And have been so good to others
God never said this walk with him
Would be an easy life
He never said hard times won’t come
Or days with sleepless nights
But with every test or trial
When temptation comes our way
He holds true to His promise
And makes a way of escape
When walking in the valley low
With day as dark as night
We pray for strength to just hold on
For strength to fight the fight
When black clouds gather ‘round us
We cannot see the light
Yet when we look through eyes of faith
Its angel wings in flight
So know that when the testing comes
It’s just to try our faith
It’s only our Lord showing us
His love and amazing grace
We must take courage in our hearts
Have on the whole armor of God
And know that He is in control
Wherever His saints must trod
And when we think our strength is gone
Our cross too heavy to bear
We pause and look toward Calvary
Then we recognize His love and care
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
