Garden Market Day Wednesday, July 30, 2008

It was early Saturday morning when the YF youth group arrived at their garden. There were many last minute preparations to be made before the local believers showed up for Young Foundations first garden market sale. Up to this point, they had been selling their vegetables to their families and VGR employees, but the veggies started growing faster than they could be sold.

The flyers had been passed out, along with an email of the event, and many were expected to show. Not only were the YF gardeners going to be selling vegetables, but they also spent two days baking cookies, breads, and side dishes to go along with the buffalo burgers and hotdogs prepared for the event.

The fresh produce was picked and placed under the market tent, where it would be weighed and bagged. Before they could even get things completely set up, cars were arriving and the line started forming. For the next hour and a half, there was a constant line of faithful believers waiting to purchase some fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden. It wasn't long before the aroma of sizzling burgers and hotdogs carried the crowd to the lunch line. For dessert, there was a variety of homemade cookies and zucchini bread.

It was a great day of fellowship and an opportunity for the local assembly to help support our young believers and the work of the Lord. All of the proceeds from the YF garden sale will go into the garden Jesus Jar.

Thank you to all who participated, and may God bless each one.
