An Ever Present Help Tuesday, July 15, 2008

He’s an ever present help in time of trouble. Even when Satan tries to send harm our way, God is near with His saving power. Here is a testimony of the power of prayer when trouble strikes.

On the Monday morning of April 28, I sent all my kids off to school like normal. I usually get up at about 5:30am and pray while I get ready for the kids. Since three of my kids attend public school and two attend a Christian school, I always try to make sure I've prayed before they leave.

At about 9:00am, my husband and I were leaving to our business. We have to pass the high school that my daughter Gabrielle attends. As I passed the school, something just came upon my heart to pray for her again. I prayed for the Lord to get her through the end of another school year safely. Literally, about two seconds after I finished praying, I got a text from her saying that the school was in immediate lockdown. I told her not to panic since so many times they are just drills.

One of my close friends that work for our police department called me to tell me that it was not a drill, it was real. A security officer saw a student with a gun on campus. They didn't know who the kid was or in what class he was in. She also gave me a description of what the kid was wearing. I called my daughter and let her know. I told her not to worry, because I was going to call as many friends as I could to start praying. Immediately, my husband and I prayed and called our precious Brother Sam Leo. Brother Sam called Brother Jerry Amalong, and I now know he got a hold of Bro Joseph.

I called my daughter back to check on her. She said she was very scared, and they were all hiding under their tables. I told her a lot of believers were praying for her. Then her dad talked to her and read her a Scripture from the Bible, Psalms 91:7. She had also text a believer friend in Texas. All I know is that when God's “Great Machine,” His gears, shafts and springs, started working, I got a phone call from my friend saying they had caught the kid within just a few minutes.

I called my daughter, and she was very relieved. She still had to stay in lockdown for about four more hours. When we picked her up after school, she said it was one of the scariest things she had ever been through. She said that once she knew believers were praying for her, and she was holding on to a prayer cloth she keeps in her backpack, that everything was going to be alright.

We truly thank the Lord for His Message and His Bride, for they are "an ever present help in a time of trouble." God bless you all and thank you again for all your prayers.
