Arkansas Youth Banquet Thursday, April 17, 2008

Last weekend, The Spoken Word Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas hosted a banquet for its local young people. Brother Kirby and his youth leader, Brother Hatten, took care of the details, so the young people could just show up and enjoy themselves. And that is exactly what happened.

Around 35 young people and just as many “not so young” people came from around the area for the event. After arriving, dinner was promptly served followed by mouth-watering homemade desserts. All of the food was prepared by the local sisters; there's nothing like home-cooked food from good, down-home people!

Once everyone was finished eating, Brother Hatten spoke to the group about preparation. He told them how important that it is that young Christians be prepared to meet the Lord Jesus. He emphasized that they must be able to conquer ANY task that He (our Lord) puts before them!

After Brother Hatten had finished speaking, Brother John Wahl – a Young Foundations representative – spoke about the things taking place in the YF department here at Voice of God Recordings. He told the group about how the Lord is using this new, exciting ministry. He then gave his personal testimony to the group and told about his life's ups and downs.

The service ended with beautiful hymns and a dismissal prayer led by Brother Kirby. It was a wonderful time of fellowship with wonderful people. As Brother John put it, “Brother Kirby and Spoken Word Church are truly encouraging young Christians in their walk with the Lord. They are fine, Christian people with a true zeal for God and this Message.” It should be no surprise to us when we hear what Brother Branham said about Arkansas folk:

Those Arkansas people are poor as they can be. But brother, under them old blue shirts beats some real good true Holy Ghost filled hearts. Yes, sir. I'd rather have one of them with me any time, than maybe a slicker with his collar turned around in the back, and I couldn't trust him out of my sight. Yes, indeedy, yes, indeed. Just... I tell you, this old time religion, brother, it straightens you up… 53-0902 Testimony
