An Insane World Wednesday, March 19, 2008

"It'll come a time, I predict, that people will be completely, totally insane, the world will be." 65-0425

Brothers and sisters, we are living in that time!

Last Thursday, while most of the country was sleeping, 21 year old Brother Silas O'Brien and two of his friends were on their way to the airport. The three were undoubtedly looking forward to some well earned rest and relaxation in beautiful Hawaii. Silas never made it; he became a victim of the insanity of this world...

On the way to the airport the trio tried to pass a truck, when an enraged driver ran Brother Silas off the road. The truck was damaged but everyone was O.K. That's when the unthinkable happened. It appears that the infuriated driver who ran them off the road must have went completely insane. He turned his truck around and headed straight for the group of young men who were assessing the damage on their vehicle. Two of the three jumped out of the way in time to escape injury. Brother Silas O'Brien didn't. Tragically he was struck and killed.

The term "road rage" has became a common phrase in the English language and reflects the decline of this world's sanity. Forty-seven years ago, Brother Branham compared not turning off your bright lights when another vehicle is approaching to "Pentecostal cursing." This seemingly small act of disrespect displayed back then has evolved into the serious delinquency that we see today.

They go down the road at night, and the man will dim his lights, and the next man won't even dim his lights, just go on, pay no attention to it. Let him go, and blind him as necessary. That's Pentecostal cursing. You see? "Let him alone, he ought..." We shouldn't do that, no matter what the other fellow does. Let's--let's show what we're made out of. If... Let's get something down in here to show love and respects. And respect the next man and--and love him, whether he's right or wrong. 61-0429E

The insanity involved in an act of violence like the one against Brother Silas is difficult to understand. This state of mind is completely insane by anyone's standards.

To live in such an insane world can be overwhelming but, by the grace of God, we have a refuge! Our refuge is in The Word of God! As believers, our solace is that we are not part of this world. We are not Americans, Canadians, French, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, or anything else other than Christians.

Let's band together in love and prayer with saints around the world for Brother Silas O'Brien's family and friends.

Brother Silas' funeral service will be held at Cloverdale Bibleway in Surrey, British Columbia Canada on Thursday, March 20.
