Though The Tempest May Blow

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need"
Hebrews 4:16
The following testimony reminds us that our Lord Jesus Christ hears the prayers of both the young and old.
Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I thought I might try to share a little testimony of prayer from my son Zachary who is almost 8 years old. We live in the town of Gassville, Arkansas where one of the tornadoes hit, February the 5th. It was a pretty normal day except for the chances of some bad thunderstorms. That evening I had got my husband off to work and was fixing some supper for my two boys. We had heard on the news that we were under a tornado watch, and the county next to us was under a warning. I must admit, I am extremely afraid of tornadoes, but still at the same time didn't take it as serious as I probably should have.
My mom had called me and told me that we needed to be careful, because my uncle had told her we had a tornado coming our way. Zachary, hearing all this talk going on, started packing himself a box of his favorite things and was preparing to go under the house (to go under the house we have to go outside). I sort of blew him off and told him there was no need to take things, that it would be okay. I also was trying to put on a brave face, but in reality never thought it would really hit so close to home.
I stepped out onto my back deck to look at the sky, as was my neighbor also. We both exchanged words on how bad it was looking, and then he went on inside. I noticed that the clouds were looking really strange, like they were meeting with the ground. And just about that quick, the wind started whipping. I knew something bad was coming. I ran into the house, and at this time did not have time to go outside to get under the house. It was there! I got my little family gathered up in the hallway. I was trying to pray but could only think of my faults and failures and just couldn't find the words I needed. I prayed for God to please help us but felt unworthy to even ask. That’s when my little Zachary, in a cry of desperation like I had never heard from him before, started praying and never stopped until long after the storm had passed.
I will never be able to remember everything he prayed, but he was praying from the very bottom of his heart for the safety of his family, home, neighbors, and so much more. I know he was extremely scared, but he knew what would call God on the scene.
The tornado devastated our little town. Many homes and businesses were destroyed that night. Power was out for days, but we only had minimal damage. There were many homes just up the road from us that lost their roofs, and some houses were totally destroyed. I truly believe with all my heart that our little block was protected from the worst of it that evening due to one little boy’s prayers. I know many others were praying also, but there is no other like the faith of a child. It's very hard to look around and see so many others who lost so much and feel unworthy and guilty to still have so much. But I know that God knows what His plan was for us all.
A lot of times the devil really uses my mistakes as a young mother to pull me down. I know I have so much to work on to become a better mother and wife that God intended for me to be. I have lots of failures and seem to fail over and over again, but I never want to lose sight of this wonderful Message and my wonderful Savior. I know that even though the devil tells me all the time that I don't do a good enough job teaching my children all they need to know to live in this awful world, and that my example is not always what it should be to them, on that day of the storm though, I was the proudest mommy ever! It made me realize that I may have done something right along the way. Because unlike many children, my son had the comfort of Jesus to help his fears and to keep us all safe in His arms. May God bless you all. Please keep our family in your prayers as we press on the battle and look forward to serving our Lord better.
Thank the Lord for answering this family's prayers!
