Blindness Friday, March 14, 2008

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be blind? It's a scary thought isn't it? Imagine not being able to watch the sun set or watch your family members smile. Imagine traveling through life not knowing what lies right in front of you. Blindness is certainly a scary thing.

Naturally, our hearts get heavy when we see a blind person. We feel sad that they can't see the things that we see. No Christian would ever hold physical blindness against a person. On the contrary, a Christian should help the physically blind, lend them a hand, and even offer prayer. If we could, we would do almost anything for a blind person.

Like physical blindness, spiritual blindness is also a horrible thing. It is just as real as physical blindness, but for some reason it creates different feelings in people than physical blindness does. While you would never see anyone (let alone a Christian) get angry at a blind man for not being able to see, it’s not rare to see professed Christians get very angry at someone who can't see what God is doing in this day.

Have you ever noticed that a blind man must rely on something other than his eyes to help him find his way around? Sometimes it’s a dog or a cane. Oftentimes it’s a family member who takes them by the arm and shows them the way. The point is that a physically blind man will find a replacement form of sight in the absence of natural vision. Spiritual blindness is the same way. A spiritually blinded person will look for anything from alcohol and drugs, to church leaders and man-made creeds to help him find his way.

It wouldn't do a blind man any good for you to tell him directions to get across town. You need to show him! The life that you are leading is what's showing spiritually blind men the way to Christ. Are you giving them good directions?

Brother Branham said,
"Jesus said, 'You're the salt of the earth.' But the salt can only be a savour as it contacts. So you've got to make a contact. And your life is the best thing to make a contact with anybody. I'd rather you'd live me a sermon than preach me one any time" 57-0115
