Giving Thanks

This past weekend the local elderly and widowed here in Jeffersonville were treated to a Thanksgiving dinner a week early. They arrived to valet parking and were greeted by young sisters that would cater to them for the rest of the evening. As they sat down, the masters of ceremonies (two young brothers) welcomed everyone before a word of prayer was offered by Brother Collins.
First they ate, and then they ate some more. After they were all completely stuffed, the dessert trays came out. Once we finally had them too full to talk, we brought in the entertainment. About 45 kids ages 5-12 showed up in their Bible character costumes and performed short dramas. The guests enjoyed plays from characters ranging from King Solomon to blind Fanny Crosby. After the last drama was over, the kids sat down and each received a trophy.
With the kids on the floor in front of the stage, two pilgrims dressed up in authentic clothing came walking out. The pilgrims told of how they had to leave England to escape religious persecution. They recalled the Mayflower journey and the first winter. At the end of the drama, the pilgrims made the point that without the freedoms our forefathers fought for, we would not be able to gather together like this today. We certainly would not be permitted to listen to the prophet of our day!
Everyone left feeling very thankful and a bit too full. The Jeffersonville group of Young Foundations has truly outdone themselves this time.
Here is an email we received from one of the saints:
To Brother Joseph and all of our young people who make up Young Foundations. Sending you a Special Thank You, for your labor of love to us. It was perfect in everyway, and I am very thankful to be associated with such dedicated young people. You are truly an inspiration to us older folks.
As I sat there enjoying the wonderful meal that had been prepared by the Young Foundations young sisters, I thought of all the thousands who would give anything to be sitting at our table, and how truly blessed I was to be there......it brought tears of gratitude and humility to my eyes to think of the goodness of God.
Just think what that Wedding Supper of the Lamb will be like........tears of joy to be sitting at that wedding table, and the Lord himself will come around and wipe the tears from our eyes.........What a day that will be. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart, and may our Lord Jesus bless you back a hundred fold.
God bless you.
