Every month, letters come into Young Foundations about young people facing adversity and standing up for the Word. We can’t post all of these letters, but here is a letter that we received that speaks of one young African sister standing on His promises.

"At a tender age of nine, the war broke out in my country, and my parents were separated and in different countries. I had to stay with my grandma at the age of 15. I used to go to the swamp about three times a day to buy fish and sell to be able to survive, as that was our only source of income. I eventually got sick, and there was no money seek medical attention. Shortly after that, my mother sent for me to join her in Ghana. I was forced to leave her again to live on the Liberian refugee camp call Buduburam to school with the rest of the Liberian refugees, because morally I though it was wrong for me to cut my hair and that was something I could not do. It was there in the camp that I came in contact with the Message at the age of 18.

My sickness became worse. I could no longer breathe with my nose, so I had to always keep my mouth slightly open. At this time, I was taken to the 37 Military Hospital, where I was diagnosed with bronchitis. I had a lot of do and don't after three years of treatment. With little or no hope, I turned to God. I just kept on believing. One day as I was reading A PROPHET VISIT SOUTH AFRICA, I saw a testimony of someone who had suffered from bronchitis for over 20 years reach out in faith and get healed. I just new that if God did it for that person, He could do it for me. My faith grew from that testimony and others I had read.

I prayed and promised to the Lord that if He healed me, I would testify to His Glory. I just felt strange and starting testifying that I was healed from that day. I have not seen any signs of it up to this date. I was healed in 2002 after suffering for six years. This and many more great things God has done for me."
