A National Holiday

Display contentSunrise on the fifteenth of August found Brother Branham standing quietly beneath a tree in the woods. As the fog rolled through and the morning dew began to form on the leaves, his eyes were either closed in prayer or peering through the scope of his trusty .22 rifle. This was always a special day to God’s prophet, because this was his time of rest.

Every year, Brother Branham traveled thousands of miles spreading the Gospel. But even with his demanding schedule, there was always an appointment he tried to keep. Whether he was in the United States, Canada, or overseas; opening day of squirrel season brought him home.

God’s prophets are always ready to serve Him. Even during his times of rest alone in the woods, the Lord Jesus performed great miracles through Brother Branham. These are not just hunting stories; these are testimonies of the power of God. Brother Branham led an infidel to Christ under the shade of an apple tree during squirrel season. Brother Branham received the inspiration to preach the Message, A Thinking Man’s Filter by stopping to pick up a cigarette package during one of those times of rest. By the power of God, Brother Branham spoke life into existence in the form of three squirrels while hunting in Kentucky.

It was during these times that the Lord Jesus had Brother Branham to Himself. These were moments between God and His prophet that we could never begin to understand. We know just a few of the testimonies. We can only imagine the many other amazing events that happened during squirrel season in the hills of Indiana and Kentucky.
