Brother Branham's Kitchen #2

We all know how much Brother Branham liked cherry pie. This recipe will give you a good idea of the kind of cherry pie he loved so much. After you take it out of the oven and it cools a little, you might want to eat like Brother Branham did:
“But I take cherry pie, put that juice over the top of it, and then pour butter on top of that, then molasses on top of that. It's just right for eating then. That's right, really good.”61-0312 – Jehova Jireh
Boy oh boy, Brother Branham sure knew good food! He even compared the Message to cherry pie. When someone didn’t agree with him, he talked about something they both could agree on:
I may preach some Doctrine. So, if so, and you don't agree with It... Just like I always said about eating cherry pie, when I run into a seed. I don't throw the pie out. I throw the seed out, just keep on eating pie.65-1125 – The Invisible Union Of The Bride Of Christ
So if you find a seed in your cherry pie, don’t throw the whole pie away. Just spit out the seed and keep on eating! Just remember, those seeds are important. That is what brings forth new life.
Cherry Pie Crust
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening, chilled
- 3 tablespoons ice water
- Whisk the flour and salt together in a medium size bowl. With a pastry blender, cut in the cold shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Drizzle 2 to 3 tablespoons ice water over flour. Toss mixture with a fork to moisten, adding more water a few drops at a time until the dough comes together.
- Gently gather dough particles together into a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes before rolling.
- Roll out dough, and put in a pie plate. Fill with desired filling and bake.
Cherry Pie Filling
- Filling fits a 9 inch single crust pie
- 2 1/2 cups pitted sour cherries
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pinch salt
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown at 425 degrees F. Remove from oven and let cool. Then, you might want to eat it like Brother Branham did.
Enjoy!
